PurpleStride is the number one way the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan) raises money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy, and nationwide volunteer support.
On Saturday, April 29, 2023, 60 PurpleStride events took place across the country to honor pancreatic cancer survivors, families, and caregivers, as well as raise funds for new research and patient support programs.
Members of Der/Cox/Bryant Supergroup began participating as a team at PurpleStride in 2013. This was our TENTH year of participation, leading a team of UNC-based researchers, clinicals, and friends called UNC Running RAScals. With a team of over 50 people, we raised $10,649 this year, bringing our total raised to over $115,000 to support pancreatic cancer research!
Dr. Kirsten Bryant was interviewed by the CBS 17, and she expressed how thankful she is for the continued grant support she has received from PanCAN, and how their advocacy is improving outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients.

We are making progress against pancreatic cancer but there is still much more work to do! If you are a researcher, clinician, survivor, family member, or Tar Heel supporter of any kind PLEASE JOIN US on our next year’s UNC Running RAScals.
