On Sunday, the Der lab prepared a taco bar for the guests at the Family House. Together, they made ground beef, rice, beans, vegetables, and homemade pico de gallo served in soft tacos, as well as cookies and sweet tea.
The Der lab also had the opportunity to sit down and eat with some of the guests. Some guests told their story of a long-awaited organ transplant, others engaged lab members in a lively discussion of Florida conspiracy theories.
When asked what stood out from the lab’s visit, Cole Edwards replied, “[The Family House’s] ability to instill a sense of comfort and community for many people who are, presumably, undergoing a great deal of hardship. I thought the experience was incredibly rewarding, and I (and I know everyone else) am very thankful to have been able to be a part of it.”
