Bjoern Otto Hahn Cropped

Bjoern Papke, a postdoctoral research fellow in the Der lab, was recently awarded the Otto Hahn Medal from the Max Planck Society in Germany. The Otto Hahn Medal is given to junior scientists in recognition of their outstanding scientific achievements during their time as a PhD student. Bjoern did his PhD in the lab of Phillipe Bastiaens at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany where he developed a novel approach to affect oncogenic RAS signaling by pharmacological interference. Now as a postdoctoral fellow in the Der lab his research is focused on the therapeutic impact of tumor heterogeneity in pancreatic cancer.
