The Blue Ribbon Run raises money for the Julie M. Brown and Christina M. Gianoplus Fund for Colon Cancer Research from Wilmington, NC. Ana Boudreau, who co-sponsored the run, had set up the fund along with a volunteer committee. With their combined efforts they seek to break the silence surrounding colon cancer, secure funds for research, raise awareness and save lives. The Blue Ribbon Committee visited the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and meet with Dr. Der, Dr. Cox and their lab members, toured their labs and presented them with a $20,000 check to support their research.
